The Mount Hotel: History of the Great Hall
Formerly known as the library when it was the home of the Mander family, this is where the wedding breakfast & evening reception takes place for weddings at the Mount hotel. It is known to be one of the finest Edwardian Halls in the whole of the Midlands! Now the main function suite of the hotel, which many people choose for their dream wedding.
In the past Charles T Mander entertained royalty no less & politicians at his home, with the reputation of fine food & French wine, a menu grand indeed in his day. The great hall having a sprung floor in Canadian Maple, was a perfect setting for a hunt or a fancy dress ball, giving way to fairy-tale weddings today! When it comes to your wedding photography, the great hall at the Mount hotel offers a touch of grandeur.

A brief history of the Mount hotel leading to a charming wedding venue
Charles B Mander the head of the Mander family, manufacturers of paint & varnish, acquired the Mount in 1862 & refurbished it extensively. The sister house of the Mount Hotel is Wightwick Manor, now owned by the National Trust, is less than 1000 metres away, which was owned by a different branch of the same family.
The present building is largely the creation of his son Charles T Mander, who in 1890 made a family arrangement to purchase the Mount for the princely sum of £5,000. In 1891 with the help of Liverpudlian Edward Ould, who had just completed work for his cousin Theodore at Wightwick Manor, he altered the Mount to reflect his taste.
After Charles T Mander was killed prematurely in 1929 in a hunting accident, his family were forced to sell this amazing property. And with the surrounding areas of Tettenhall, Wrottersley, & Perton swelling & Wolverhampton growing, there was an ever increasing need for a hotel in the area. So in 1952 a luxurious hotel was born!

If you do decide to check out the Mount for your wedding venue, make sure you spend some time in the Great Hall. Go upstairs & admire it from the beautiful wooden balcony, a master craft man's achievement! From this spot, there is such a peaceful feel to this magnificent building, as you stare at the gorgeous chandeliers & look out to the large & spacious gardens, it really does have a majestic feel to it!

There is able free parking at the Mount Hotel, always check with the owners for more details. For wedding guests who prefer not to drive, no problem, a train to Wolverhampton Railway Station & it's only less than 4 miles to get to the Mount Hotel, Tettenhall Wood, approximately a 15 minute journey by taxi.
